Dear Parents and Carers
Class 1 News
Homework: We were very excited to welcome Fizzy back into Class 1 this week. For next Wednesday, please write some instructions on how to look after Fizzy. An instruction checklist is in each child’s book bag.
Countryside Day Nursery Nativity Performance: We will be travelling by minibus to watch this on Wednesday 12th December (morning only). Please sign and return the enclosed slip.
Class 2 News
Year 6 Guided Reading: This week you are a food critic. Choose four meals you might eat; they could be school lunches or dinners you have at home. Write a review of each meal and make sure you discuss the taste, appearance, texture, smell and maybe even the sound (crunch or crackle) of the food. Rank them from best to worst. This is due for Wednesday.
Year 3,4 and 5 Homework: Next week, you will be creating a play script for a scene from ‘Friend or Foe?’ by Michel Morpurgo. For homework, draw your favourite scene from the book. For example, this could be the moment the children leave on the steam train, the journey to Devon or the moment they find themselves in the company of the German pilots – it’s up to you! Be ready to share your creation and use it as inspiration for your play script next week.
Year 6 Glynch Farm Trip: Please return the form for the trip on 14th December if you have not already done so.
Years 5 & 6 Residential Trip April 2019: If you have not already done so, please return the consent form for this and the £55 deposit.
Ofsted Inspection: We are very pleased to attach the report from our latest inspection on 23rd November. The school continues to be judged Good which we feel reflects the excellent work and the commitment of staff and pupils. Well done, everyone!
After School Clubs: The activity-themed clubs have now finished for the term, though After School Care Club will run 4 days a week as usual until the end of term. New clubs will be announced next term; keep an eye on the newsletter for sign up sheets.
Instrumental Tuition: Next Monday will be the last session of Severn Arts tuition, which will commence again on 14th January. If your child currently has instrumental tuition and you have not returned the reply slip to confirm for next term, please let us have this on Monday.
Christmas Performances: This year our performances of ‘The Best Gift’ will be at 10.00 am and 6.00 pm on Tuesday 18th December and 6.00 pm on Wednesday 19th December. We are not charging entrance but there will be a raffle and refreshments etc for sale at the evening performances. So that we have an idea of numbers for this please sign up on the sheet at the back door.
Just to whet your appetite, we are also in need of some fluffy onesies to use for monster costumes for the performances! If you have any you are able to lend us, please could you bring them in on Monday for Ms White.
Christingle Collection Candles: These were sent home on Tuesday after our special assembly. They will be collected from school promptly after our Christmas Service on 20th December and the money collected will go to The Children’s Society.
Breakfast Club Reminder: If you drop your child off at school before 8.30 am they will need to go into Breakfast Club and will be charged accordingly, whether or not they choose to have any breakfast. This is because staff are not available to supervise them at this time, other than as part of our registered childcare.
