Friends of Pendock School (FOPS)
FOPS (Friends of Pendock School) are a group of parents, carers, grandparents, governors and staff who give their time to create better learning experiences for our children at Pendock. As well as raising much-needed funds that help improve our school, the social events we run bring the whole community together.
Here’s what we achieved last academic year…
We raised over £10,000
Some of this money was used to pay for a pottery experience with Eastnor Pottery for all pupils, resulting in some gorgeous clay creatures for the Millenium Garden.
A portion was used to pay for the music taster sessions which give every child one free term of music tuition during their time at Pendock.
Some was used to support the much-needed replenishing and updating of the Story Sacks.
We also paid for some of the food for the Whole School Sleepover, provided refreshments at the Leavers’ Presentation Evening and purchased raffle prizes and bought medals for the Pendock Spring Chicken Run, among other things.
Part of the money raised last year and in previous years will help fund the building of an extension to the school hall, which will house a fantastic new kitchen and create a further toilet and storage areas attached to the hall. This will free up additional teaching space in the main building and contribute to the smooth running of the school, benefitting all pupils and providing an excellent community resource.
In previous years we have contributed to the purchase of iPads, sewing machines and cameras, provided outdoor play equipment and benches and secured the purchase and installation of solar panels which in turn raise further funds for the school and reduce our carbon footprint.
Why not get involved?
Don’t be put off if you feel you don’t have much time, haven’t been asked or are unsure what’s involved. We have parents who work part-time and full-time. Any time you can give is welcome. Having a child at this school means you can join us. We can use any skills you have and you might learn new ones.
Being involved is a great way to get to know the school and other parents and equally have some fun!
Come along to FOPS meetings to help organise upcoming events. The date of the next FOPS meeting is always in the school newsletters, and meetings are usually held straight after school to make it easier for parents to attend. If you are unable to attend you can put forward any ideas/suggestions via Clare/Suzanne/Chris or the Parent Information Point.
