Trip to Countryside Day Nursery 14th February:  Next Friday morning we will be visiting Countryside to join them for some Valentines Day activities, travelling there and back in their minibus.  Please sign the attached slip to confirm you are happy for your child to participate.

Class 2:

Year 6 Guided Reading: Please read and complete the worksheet on ‘Structure’ for next Wednesday.

Year 3 & 4 Dance Festival:  Year 3 and 4 enjoyed another trip to Hanley Castle on Tuesday morning.  This time it was to participate in the Dance festival organised for the cluster schools.   A big well done and thank you to the children who demonstrated Pride in Pendock throughout.  The children really embraced the opportunity and were a credit to the school and their families.  They were taught two dances by the Dance in Motion teachers, the styles taught were: African, cheer leading and street.  The children then all had chance to perform to each other by participating in one of the dances in a group celebration at the end.  We were very proud of them.

Year 5 & 6 Residential: If you have not already paid it, the second instalment of £50 is due.  Please pay this via the Payments4Schools website.  If you have not already paid your first instalment we would appreciate it if you could bring your payments up to date as the school has already had to cover the cost of this trip.

Children’s Mental Health Week: The children have been fabulous throughout the week when we have been talking about and giving awareness to Mental Health.  We’ve spent some time thinking about the #FindYourBrave and discussed how we all have different things and different experiences where we have had to go out of our comfort zone. If any of you would like to share a #FindYourBrave moment we’d love to hear them.

Internet Safety day: On Tuesday 11th February it is Safer Internet Day.  Please could you have a conversation with your child about staying safe online and we will follow this up with activities in school. We would also appreciate the children designing a poster with ideas/information about staying safe online ready for Tuesday.  Attached is an information sheet about one of the latest apps/software that children may be using for you information.

Music Tuition Invoices:  These are enclosed for the Spring Term.  If your child does not want to carry on instrumental tuition in Summer Term please let Ms Curnow know next week (before half term!) as Severn Arts require this amount of notice to cancel.  If your child would like to start learning an instrument next term please also let us know.

Year R and Year 6 Checks:  On Wednesday 11th March the School Nurse will be visiting to do Hearing Tests for Reception pupils and Heights and Weight checks for Reception and Year 6.  Letters will be attached if you have pupils in either of these years.  If you do not want your child to take part in these, please follow the instructions on the letters.

World Book Day – Thursday 5th March:  We’ve decided to mark World Book Day in a slightly different way this year. Instead of dressing up as a favourite book character we would like the children to wear their pyjamas (onesies etc) as the day will be filled with a selection of bedtime stories read by members of staff and hopefully the community. We will have a variety of activities, all things book related, throughout the morning with hot chocolate time and hopefully, weather dependent, a story around a campfire.

If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities or read one of your favourite stories throughout the morning please let Mrs Gilroy know.

Road Closures:  We’ve been assured that we will continue to have access to the school and that the work planned for outside school is likely to take place in half-term. Please do keep an eye on Twitter and FOPS Facebook page as if we have any updates we will post them up there as well as communicating by text.

Look At The Book:  Next dates for this term are – 6th March and 20th March.

Running Club: Apologies but we will have to cancel Running Club next Tuesday, 11th February.

Friends’ News:  Thank you for your donations of jumble so far – and we look forward to some cake donations later!  Please come along to the Jumble Sale tomorrow from 2.00 – 4.00 pm – and tell your friends!

We still need volunteers for the Spring Chicken Run.  We are doing leaflet drops in the local area on 28th February and 13th March and there will be a litter pick of the route on 17th March.  Please let Steph Grainger know if you can help with any of these or on the day itself.  There will be non uniform days on 13th March in exchange for eggs (chocolate or hens) and on 20th March for cake donations.

Best wishes

Mrs Gilroy and the staff team
