12 July 2019                                                                                                                                        Newsletter 38

Dear Parents and Carers

Menus:  For those who will still be with us next academic year, menus are attached for the start of the Autumn Term.  We do need your choices returned next week, but you can pay at the start of term if this is more convenient.  A reminder that Key Stage 1 pupils are covered by Universal Infant Free School Meals.  Children joining us in nursery are not covered by this, but can order meals at £2.00 per day instead of £2.30 as we expect they will have smaller appetites!

Class 2 News

Year 6 Pupils Transferring to Hanley Castle:  If you have not already done so please visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/SchoolTransportApplicationto arrange for their bus pass.  If you do not apply before 31st July they cannot guarantee to issue a pass in time for the start of Autumn term.  Students resident in Gloucestershire will not automatically qualify for transport but may be able to purchase a pass under the ‘vacant seat scheme’; please see the website for full details.

Book Reviews:  Ms White will be writing a Library Newsletter for the end of term.  Please could all Year 6 pupils write a short piece telling us what their favourite book is and why and also their favourite food, hobby and lesson.  These should be in by Tuesday.  If pupils from any other year group want to write a book review for the newsletter as well, that would be great.

Malvern Hills District Council Community Sports Awards:  Lastnight a group of Pendock representatives attended this awards ceremony.  We were very proud to have received Runners Up in both Community Project of the Year – for the Spring Chicken Run – and the Sports School of the Year Award.  This is all thanks to our fabulous sports crew and to everyone from the wider community who pulls together to stage and take part in the Pendock Spring Chicken Run.  We really appreciate your efforts.

After School Sports / Activity Clubs: Areminder that there will be noFootball, Cricket or Newspaper Clubs next week but After School Care will continue during the final week as normal.

‘Flowers of the Field’ Play:  A reminder that you are very welcome to join us for the performance at 1.45 pm on Tuesday 16th July.  Our pupils and staff have been working very hard towards this so do please come and support them.

Leavers’ Events on Thursday 18th July: At 9.30 am we will have our traditional service at Pendock Cross Church.  While this is particularly special for parents of Year 6 pupils, any other parents or carers are also welcome to join us.  The Presentation Evening at 6.00 pm is always a popular family event as we remember our Year 6 pupils’ time at Pendock and wish them well for the future.  It would be lovely to see as many of you there as possible to celebrate their achievements and enjoy the atmosphere.  If you are coming to the Leavers’ Presentation Evening we would appreciate it if you could bring some nibbles to share.

School Milk:  If your child has milk in school at the moment please remember to visit www.coolmilk.com to renew your payment for Autumn Term.  If you would like to register for your child to start having milk please visit the same website to do so.  Milk is supplied free to pupils, including nursery, until their fifth birthday.

After School Care Club Volunteers:  As some parents, who have been fantastically helpful over the last year, have children leaving us this term we have vacancies for parent helpers at ASCC.  If you could spare time in the afternoon between 3.15 and 5.30 pm and would be willing to help out please speak to Ms Curnow.  As part of our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children all volunteers will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Term Dates for 2019 – 20:  Attached you will find the term dates for the coming academic year.  Please keep these somewhere safe and refer to them when booking any holidays.  Please note that, while we have already set 2 TEDs at the start of the Autumn Term, there will still be another 3 TEDs to schedule in during the year so keep an eye on the newsletter for these.
