Dear Parents and Carers

Class 1 News

Picnic: A reminder that our walk and picnic with Countryside Day Nursery will be on the morning of Friday 12th July.  Please send your child into school with suncream already applied and a sun hat and sensible footwear.  If you have not already returned the slip sent out with last week’s newsletter please do so on Monday.

Homework:  This week, write about the beach party.  What did you enjoy the most about the afternoon?

Class 2 News

Homework: Make sure you have your costumes ready for the play performance and practise your parts, particularly the songs.

After School Sports / Activity Clubs:  Football, Cricket and Newspaper Clubs will finish next week, as the final week of term is already very busy!  After School Care will continue during the final week as normal.

Reminders for Money Owing to School:  If you have amounts outstanding for Breakfast Club, Music Tuition or School Meals a reminder slip is enclosed.  After School Care Club statements are currently being prepared and will follow next week.  If you have any queries about the amounts owing please speak to Ms Curnow as soon as possible.

Important Changes to Nursery Funding:  If you have a younger child starting nursery next September this is a very important announcement.  If you are going to be claiming the additional 15 hours free nursery provision (30 hours in total) you will need a code to do this and you MUST apply at https://www.gov.uk/apply-30-hours-free-tax-free-childcare in plenty of time to have received your code by 31st August.  If you leave it until September to apply then you will not be eligible for the additional 15 funded hours until January.  This is a national ruling and individual schools / nurseries have no discretion over it.  The first 15 ‘Universal’ hours are unaffected and can be claimed for all children from the start of the first term after their third birthday.

Kier Construction / Highways Agency:  Representatives from these agencies will be visiting school on Monday to launch an exciting competition to design some safety signs for outside school.  So get those creative impulses going over the weekend!  Results will be announced the following Monday.

‘Flowers of the Field’ Play:  A reminder that you are very welcome to join us for the performance at 1.45 pm on Tuesday 16th July.

Leavers’ Events on Thursday 18th July: At 9.30 am we will have our traditional service at Pendock Cross Church.  While this is particularly special for parents of Year 6 pupils, any other parents or carers are also welcome to join us.  The Presentation Evening at 6.00 pm is always a popular family event as we remember our Year 6 pupils’ time at Pendock and wish them well for the future.  It would be lovely to see as many of you there as possible to celebrate their achievements and enjoy the atmosphere.
