Dear Parents and Carers
Class 1 News
Picnic: Our rescheduled walk and picnic with Countryside Day Nursery will be on the morning of Friday 12th July. Hopefully the weather will be kinder to us this time! Please sign and return the slip for the new date. We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £4 per child to cover transport and other costs; please let us have this either via Payments4Schools or the green postbox if you have not already done so.
School Milk: If your younger child is starting school or nursery with us in September you can register to have milk in school, which will be provided free for pupils under 5. Please register at www.coolmilk.com Parents of older pupils who would like to start having milk can use the same link.
Beach Party: Next week Class 1 will be having a Beach Themed week. On Friday 5th we will be having a beach party including water and sand based learning and beach food activities during school time. Pupils are invited to bring along a swimming costume and towel for this event.
Class 2 News
Dance Festival Arrangements: A reminder that on Wednesday 3rd July all Class 2 pupils will be taking part in the Worcestershire Dancing performance at the Artrix in Bromsgrove. The pupils’ coach will be leaving after lunch at 1.30 pm. If you have not already booked a packed ‘tea’ with school, you will need to send them with food, drinks and snacks to keep them going until late in the evening. Please can children also bring a book and an activity to do during the day.
The parents’ coach will leave from school at 5.30 pm. There are still some spaces on this at £5 per person if you do not wish to drive. If you booked tickets through the school these have arrived and can be collected from the office in advance from Monday. It is anticipated that both coaches will return to school at around 9.45 pm. If pupils are tired after this late finish they have the option of coming into school a little later on the Thursday morning.
Please can children have their dance costume ‘bottoms’ in school on Monday ready for our practice. School are providing the T shirts.
Year 5 & 6 ‘Growing and Changing’: We intend to begin delivering our Growing and Changing topic to the children in Years 5 and 6 during the week commencing 8th July. We use materials from the BBC Resource “Growing Up Resource Pack to support our delivery of this area of the curriculum. Parents are welcome to view the materials we will be using on Thursday 4th July at 3.30 pm.
Visit from Upton Safer Neighbourhood Team: On Monday 1st July a Police Officer and Community Support Officer from Upton Police Station will be leading a safety session with the whole school. They will be bringing along a speed gun, some uniform to try on and some literature to take away. Children may be participating in activities at the road side.
‘Flowers of the Field’ Play: Pupils have been working hard rehearsing this play which was written for us by professional playwrite John Townsend. The performance will be at 1.45 pm on Tuesday 16th July and parents, carers and any other members of the community are very welcome to join us.
Library Books: If you have an overdue library book there is a slip attached. Please have a look for it at home.
Malvern Hills District Council Sports Awards: We are delighted to announce that the Pendock Spring Chicken Run has once again reached the final in the Community Project of the Year Award in the Malvern Hills District Community Sports Awards. We are very grateful to all the volunteers who make this event such a success each year. For the first time, we have been nominated for an additional award – the Sports School of the Year category.
