Dear Parents and Carers

Class 1 News

Stay and Play Thursday 13th June:  To celebrate Father’s Day Dads are warmly invited to join us in Class 1 for a play, drink and biscuit from 9.30-10.00 after celebration assembly.

Picnic on 19th June:  We will be meeting up at British Camp with Countryside Day Nursery on the morning of 19th June for a short walk, an ‘elevensies’ picnic and an ice cream.  We will be travelling to and from British Camp by minibus and will be back in time for lunch.  Please sign and return the enclosed slip.  We are asking for a £4 voluntary contribution per child towards costs, which is being subsidised by the school; the actual cost per child will be just over £8.50.

Class 2 News

Homework: Continueto practise your lines for the play.

The Big Sing, Worcester University Arena:  Class 2 pupils will be going on this (morning only) on Tuesday 18th June.  Please sign and return the attached slip.  The full cost to the school of this trip is £8.45 per pupil but we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £4.00 per pupil towards the cost.  Please note that pupils may take bottled water only with them into the venue.

Worcestershire Dancefest at The Artrix 3rd July:  If you have ordered tickets via the school, these will be available for distribution shortly – watch this space! If you have not already paid in full for your tickets please do so as soon as possible.  There are still spaces available on the coach if you have not already booked one and would like to.  Please return the Worcestershire Dancing permission form; if you have not already done so a spare form is enclosed and we need this back first thing on Monday morning – one per child.  This is a requirement of the festival organisers, not the school.  On the morning of 4th July, if your child is feeling tired you can bring them in to school later if you prefer.

Special Request:  We are busy rehearsing our play and are looking for some props. We need 6 wicker shopping baskets so if you have any at home please can you lend them to us?

Whole School Trip to The Three Counties Show 14th June:  We will be travelling to the Three Counties Show for the whole day, leaving school at 8.30 am and returning to school at approx 3.30 pm.  As well as the exhibits that are open to the general public, we are taking part in some special workshops on water and fishing.  Pupils will need to take a packed lunch is they have not already ordered a school one, they will need sensible footwear, clothing / sunscreen according to the weather and a small rucksack to carry their drinks and lunch.  We recommend you apply sunscreen to your children before they leave in the morning.  In the hopefully unlikely event of very young pupils getting tired during the day, we will contact you to arrange to rendez vous at the designated collection point near the Yellow Gate.  As this trip is going to be our Father Christmas present for this year, there will be no charge on this occasion.

After School Clubs:  We will be running the following from week commencing 10th June.  Please sign and return the attached form if your child wishes to take part.  The charge for these clubs is £1 per session.  As this is a shorter than usual run of clubs and we have several events that may result in clubs being cancelled on a particular day, we will be billing for them at the end of term.  If you have already booked and paid for After School Care on the same night as a club, the payment will be transferred.

Football Club Tuesday 3.15-4.15

Newspaper Club on Thursday 3.15-4.15

Cricket Club Wednesday 3.15-4.15

Summer Music Concert:  Thank you to all parents who had consented to children attending the Musical Concert.  Unfortunately, Mrs Rowe has withdrawn from teaching singing to Class 2 and as a result the Summer Musical Concert is cancelled.  This is a great disappointment to all staff and we know that many children and members of the community who regularly attend and thoroughly enjoy the event will be disappointed, too.  We thank Mrs Rowe for the time, energy and specialist knowledge that she has so generously shared.

Friends News:  We look forward to seeing as many of you and your family and friends as possible at the Fete tomorrow.  Current forecasts indicate we will be lucky with the weather!  Thank you to all the volunteers who have given their time and resources already and who have promised to help tomorrow.  Donations of cakes on the day will be most welcome.
