24 May 2019 Newsletter 32
Dear Parents and Carers
Class 2 Homework: Practise the playscript that has been sent home with you today.
Instrumental Tuition: Invoices for Summer term are attached. If your child wants to stop having lessons from September then please let the office know directly after half term as we have to give Severn Arts plenty of notice. From September we will also be offering guitar tuition as an option for Class 2 pupils so let Ms Curnow know if your child would like to start.
Sports Day: This will be from 10.00 am on Tuesday 4th June (5th June reserve date). Parents are very welcome to come along and support the teams. Children need to come to school in shorts and a T shirt of any colour of their choice. This year we are changing the names of the teams and making it a multi colour event.
Whole School Sleepover: Once again, we will be doing this on 7th June. Children need to be dropped back at school between 4.30 and 5.00 pm and be collected by 9.00 am on Saturday as we will be setting up for the Summer Fete. The cost of £15 per child includes evening meal, breakfast and lots of fun and games. Pupils will need pyjamas, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, toiletries and a favourite cuddly toy. Please sign up in the office by first thing on Wednesday 5th June so we can plan for this event.
Worcestershire Dancefest at The Artrix 3rd July: We have made a block booking for these and they will be collected and brought into school. Everyone who requested a ticket by the deadline has one so please pay if you have not done so already. There are still some spare places on the coach at £5 per person if you would like to save yourselves the inconvenience of driving to Bromsgrove and parking. Please return the consent form attached – one for each child taking part.
Summer Musical Concert: If you have not returned your general consent slip for the concert, or if your child would like to play an instrument, please return these directly after half term.
New Story Sack Organiser Wanted: Mrs Rowe will be stepping down from running the Story Sacks scheme at the end of this term and is inviting parents from Class 1 and Class 2 to take on the role. Story Sacks encourage reading and role play at home as part of the rich curriculum offered in Class 1 and are a valuable part of school life. Attached is a letter detailing the responsibilities involved in the role and a slip to return to the green box to show your interest. Training will be given by Mrs Rowe after half term so please return the slip by the first week after half term.
Lost: A grey Regatta jacket and some multi coloured trainers (size 3) have been lost in school. If they have found their way back with you, please can you bring them to the office.
Worcester Cathedral Art Competition: Worcester Cathedral is holding a competition for primary school pupils to design a ‘wrapper’ for our new digital donation points. Three winning entries will be selected, and the winners will receive a free private tour of the Cathedral for themselves and their families. All entries received will be exhibited in the Cathedral Chapter House throughout July and August.
The theme of the competition is ‘Our Cathedral.’ Pupils are asked to think about what Worcester Cathedral means to them and what their favourite part of the building is.
To enter, pupils simply design their picture in the box on the competition sheet attached and complete the submission form on the front. Entries must be received by the Cathedral by Monday 15th July, and winners will be selected that week. Students can use pencils, paints, crayons or even computer software to create their image, and entries can be submitted digitally to email@example.com or in hard copy to the Welcome Desk of Worcester Cathedral, marked for the attention of Worcester Cathedral Education Department.
Friends’ News: Thank you for all the bottle and tombola prize donations today. Please sign up at the back door if you are able to help on the day with the Summer Fete.
