Dear Parents and Carers

Whole School Homework and Red Nose Day:  On Monday in Discovery Time we will be focussing on the purpose of Red Nose Day and setting a task for groups of children to design a game or activity that their peers can enjoy on Friday.  For homework the children should think up ideas to share with their classmates for indoor activities or games for individual players.  On Monday they should bring in a list of resources they will need for their game; these should be items that we are likely to already have in school or that they can bring in from home.

We invite the children to bring in donations on Friday 15th March towards this worthy cause.

Class 2 News

Homework:  Look for interesting 3D shapes and bring in their nets to share with the rest of the class.

Year 6 Guided Reading:  Complete the reading comprehension on ‘Edible Cutlery’ for Wednesday.

Year 5 & 6 Residential Trip: The third instalment of £50 is due on 15th March.  If you still need to pay the first two instalments please can you also do this as soon as possible.  We plan that all children in these years will be going on the trip so if you have any questions or if the full cost of the trip is a concern please speak to Mrs Lyndon-Chance or Ms Curnow in confidence.  Remember that there is an important information evening at 6.00 pm on Wednesday 20th March at Castlemorton CE Primary.

World Book Day:  Thank you to everyone who organised the fantastic character costumes today!  Please find attached a token (one per child) that can be used in participating bookshops as part of the World Book Day promotion.

School Council Fundraising: Members of School Council have shownincredible determination to achieve their goal of replacing the carpet in Class 2.  Since the start of the year they have been meeting flooring specialists, getting quotes and reviewing samples in a bid to get the very best flooring for their classroom.   Alongside that they have been quietly pushing forward to meet their fundraising target of £1200.  So far they have raised £150 at the Christmas Fayre selling wooden decorations they made themselves and £140 selling the muffins baked as part of their topic – thanks to Mrs L-C for donating the ingredients!  This week has seen the sponsored read take place raising a massive £400!  They plan to organise a disco to mark the end of SATs in May and we will almost certainly be treated to another cake sale soon!  A big thank you to everyone for supporting them with their fundraising, and a massive pat on the back to the whole of School Council for their maturity in doing such an incredible job.

Community Lunch:  This was a great success on Monday and we have had many lovely messages to thank us and compliment the school on the way our pupils conducted themselves.  The next lunch will be on Monday 1st April; if you know anyone who would like to come please ask them to book their place by 25th March.  The cost will be £5.

Reception and Year 6 Health Screening:  A reminder that Reception and Year 6 will have their height and weight check and Reception will have hearing tests on Tuesday 12th March.

Lost School Sweatshirt:  Please check at home to see if you have acquired an extra school sweatshirt.  It is age 9-10 and has the name inside.

Spring Chicken Run:  Please sign up at the back door if you are able to help on the day.  There is also a sign up sheet if you are able to donate one of the more substantial Easter eggs as a raffle prize.  On Friday 15th March there will be a non uniform day in exchange for eggs (fresh or chocolate) to be used as category prizes in the races.  There will also be a litter pick of the race route on Friday 22nd March at 9.00 am – volunteers are very welcome.
