Dear Parents and Carers

We are delighted to announce that Mr and Mrs Greenbank had their baby Jacob John Martin Greenbank on 22nd February.  They are all doing well and we send them our best wishes.

Menus:  These are enclosed for the 3 week period to 29th March.  There will be a further 2 week menu that will take us up to the end of term.  Please look over these with your child and return them with payment, if appropriate, on Monday.

Class 1 News

Homework: Please see pupils’ books.

Class 2 News

Homework:  Design as poster to sell your team’s muffin but do not include a price.

Year 6 Guided Reading:  Complete the comprehension on World War I poems.

High 5 Netball Tournament Tuesday 5th March: If your child has been picked for the team a slip is attached.  The tournament is at Hanley Castle High School; please make arrangements for your child to be transported to Hanley Castle for a 4pm start and collected again at 6.00 pm.  They will need their PE kit to change into before they leave school and a drink and appropriate clothing for in between matches.

Year 5 & 6 Residential Trip: The third instalment of £50 is due on 15th March.  If you still need to pay the first two instalments please can you do this as soon as possible.  Remember that there is an important information evening at 6.00 pm on Wednesday 20th March at Castlemorton CE Primary.

Cardboard Tube Request:  If you have any inner tubes from kitchen rolls or wrapping paper (not toilet rolls) please could Class 1 have them?  We are going to make windmills!

Reception and Year 6 Health Screening:  Every year the school nurses check the heights and weights of pupils in Reception and Year 6 and also offer a hearing test for Reception children. Our visit is scheduled for 12th March.  Letters are attached giving further information if your child is in either of these year groups.  If you wish to opt out of this, please inform the school nurse service as detailed on the letter.

Muffin Sale:  Class 2 have been very busy testing recipes and baking muffins.  They will be selling them at the Community Lunch on Monday 4th March and if they aren’t all snapped up they will be on sale after school on Monday.

Events for World Book Day:  All next week we will be having a sponsored book read in conjunction with FOPS.  Sponsor forms are attached and we will be doing 30 minutes in school each day.  On Friday we will be dressing up as our favourite book characters – so have a think about who you would like to be!

Parent Governor Appointment:  We are pleased to announce that Stephanie Grainger has been appointed as our new Parent Governor.

Friends’ News:  We would be very grateful for prize donations for the raffle at the Spring Chicken Run.  We need Easter eggs to the value of £15, £12 and 2 at £5.  There will be a sign up list at the back door for these.

On Friday 15th March there will be a non uniform day in return for category prizes for the race itself, which can either be fresh eggs or chocolate Easter eggs.

On Friday 22nd March we would really appreciate some cakes which can be sold to hungry runners (and their supporters!) on the day.  We are also planning to have a litter pick of the race route on that Friday – more details to follow.
