01 February 2019                                                                                                                                              Newsletter 20

Dear Parents and Carers

We would like to extend a warm Pendock welcome (despite the weather!) to Ms Hayles.  She joined the team today teaching Class 1 during Mrs Evans’ maternity leave and we all look forward to working with her.

Class 1 News

Homework:  Find a fact about a snowy country.

Class 2 News

Homework:  Read a newspaper article and discuss the features and content with your family.  Bring in the clipping, or print it out, to share with the class on Tuesday afternoon.

Year 6 Guided Reading:  Complete the reading comprehension for Wednesday.

Year 4 Dance Festival:  A reminder that Year 4 are going to a Dance Festival at Hanley Castle High School next Tuesday morning (5th February). If you havenot yet returned the consent form that was with last week’s newsletter please do so on Monday.

Year 5 & 6 Residential:  Thank you to those of you who have already paid the initial deposit of £55 and the second instalment of £50.  If you have not already done so, please let us have this as soon as possible, either via Payments4Schools or cash / cheque in the green post box.  There will be an information evening at Castlemorton Primary School at 6.00 pm on Wednesday 20th March.  Please make every effort to attend this, even if you did so last year, as we will be going to a different centre this time and activities will vary.

FAME Concert:  As we finish our FAME project for this year, there will be a concert by the string band at 2.30 pm on Friday 15th February.  Parents are very welcome to attend.

School Council Meet our Chair of Governors:  on Wednesday of last week, our Chair of Governors Mrs Liz Tillott had a very positive meeting with our School Council.  Please have a look at her attached report which makes us feel very proud of the school!

Community Meal:  We would like to extend an invitation to members of the wider community to join us for one of our special Pendock Primary lunches once a month.  The first one will be on Monday 4th March and will be baked potato with either tuna mayo or beans and cheese, accompanied by salad and followed by an indulgent old fashioned pudding.  We will normally be charging £5 per person for this, but FOPS have kindly offered to fund the first one as, very literally, a taster session.  If you know any local members of the community who would like to come along, please ask them to phone the office to book a place.

School Uniform Suppliers:  Danoli Designs will unfortunately no longer be supplying school uniform.  You can still order through Brigade, the link for which is on our website under the Parent Information tab.  Tesco have stopped their school uniform embroidery service but this has been taken over by My Clothing, from whom you can order items with the Pendock logo.  Leaflets are in the yellow file at the Parent Information Point and the link for parents is www.myclothing.com

FOPS Live Music Event:  Don’t forget to buy your tickets from the office to see The Rubies next Friday 8th February:  £10 per adult, £4 per child or £25 for a family of two adults and two children.  There will be a bar and a raffle with some exciting prizes (see the notice board!)

Spring Chicken Run:  We have attached a hard copy entry form for you to share with friends or family who might be interested.  Online entries can be accessed at https://www.runpendock.co.uk/
