15 February 2019 Newsletter 22
Dear Parents and Carers
We are delighted to announce that Mrs Evans had her baby Poppy Grace last Friday. All our good wishes go to Mr and Mrs Evans and their new daughter.
Whole School Homework: Design a poster for the Spring Chicken Run; include the 1k, 5k and 10k and the date 24th March.
Year 6 Guided Reading: Please complete the Reading Comprehension about David Copperfield and at least one page from SATs busters.
Breakfast Club: Invoices are enclosed for the first half of this term. If your child only attended one session this has been carried forward and will be billed at the end of term. We would like to remind parents that if their child is dropped off at school before 8.30 am they will need to go into the hall for Breakfast Club and will be charged accordingly for registered childcare, whether or not breakfast is eaten. Teachers are not available to supervise children who arrive early unless there is a specific start planned for a trip.
After School Care Club: Booking forms are enclosed for the second half of this term. As there has been no demand for pre-booked childcare until 5.30 pm on a Monday, we are not offering this full session for the second half of this term. There will still be childcare up to 4.15 pm. We will review this if there is sufficient demand in the future.
Library Books Outstanding: If you have a reminder slip attached to this newsletter please check at home for these books.
Parent Governor Election: A reminder that nominations for this vacancy need to be returned to Ms Curnow by Tuesday 26th February.
Music Lessons for Summer Term: If your child currently has instrumental tuition you were contacted by text earlier this week to give you the option to cease this at the end of Spring term. If we have not heard from you, we have assumed your child will be continuing in the Summer term. Unfortunately Severn Arts require half a term’s notice otherwise there is a charge. If you would like your child to start having instrumental tuition after Easter please speak to Ms Curnow. FOPS will fund one term’s lessons as a ‘taster session’ if your child has not previously had instrumental tuition at this school.
Urgent Appeal for Stem Cell Donor Registration: You may have already seen on Social Media and the local news that Pitmaston Primary School have a Reception child with leukaemia who urgently needs a stem cell transplant. They are holding an event on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd March at the school to fast track registration for potential donors. You can see the family’s story at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/hand-in-handforoscarsaxelby-lee and general information about the donor program at https://www.dkms.org.uk/en The registration process involves completing some forms and having a simple cheek swab. Please consider supporting this initiative as you could save a child’s life.
M50 Closures: We have been informed that this coming weekend the M50 will be closed between junctions 1 and 2 and that this is anticipated to continue until 4th March. All three bridges (on the B4208, School Lane and Bury Court) will also be one lane only and controlled by temporary traffic lights. The bridge on the B4208 is planned to be be fully closed from 26th April, potentially until the end of 2019. Diversions will be signposted. Please keep your eye on this newsletter for details of local information sessions that Kier Construction are planning to host.
