Dear Parents and Carers

Class 1 News

Homework:  Please look in their books for this week’s homework.

Learning Logs: Thank you for your support with the Learning Logs to date. We are currently reviewing this ready for a slightly altered approach after half term. On a Friday afternoon, Class One parents will still be gratefully received, but for Open Book sessions from 2.45-3.15. Your Year 1/2 child will be delighted to share their most recent work with you from their school books. For parents of Pre-School and Reception children, you will soon receive communication inviting you to receive photograph updates via our assessment software, 2Simple.

The Learning Log concept will be adapted so that each child will bring home one photograph per week of an area of their learning. Class One homework will then involve your child discussing what they learnt with you (Reception) or writing a caption (Year 1) or summary (Year 2) of the learning deriving from the photo.

We are hopeful that this approach will strike a balance of opportunities for you to gain regular insights into your child’s academic and pastoral progress. Please feedback to Miss Hayles if you feel strongly about this adaptation – plans are fluid at this stage!

Class 2 News

Parent Governor Election:  We have a vacancy on our Governing Body for a Parent Governor and nomination forms are attached.  If we receive more nominations than there are vacancies then an election will be held in due course.  All parents of children at the school are entitled to nominate and vote; to this end we have posted forms to all non-resident parents for whom we have addresses.  If you think there may be anyone else for whom we do not hold these details please speak to Ms Curnow.

Cleaner in Charge Vacancy:  We have a vacancy for a cleaner at school for 10.5 hours per week (Local Government Salary Scale 2 current range £4215 – 4347 pa).  There will also be keyholder responsibilities including locking up and security checks. On occasions when the hall is hired out of hours these responsibilities will be paid in addition.  If you know anyone who might be interested please ask them to contact the school office for more information or a job description and application form.  The closing date for this position will be 1st April.

Hope Church Holiday Club:  This is on Monday 18 February 2019 at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Old Street, Upton upon Severn, starting at 9.30am and ending around 4pm.  This year our big theme is the story of Noah, and we’re excited to confirm that iSingPop will be participating in the event.  Parents are invited to a show at the end of the day and for a hotdog tea after.  To book a place, download and complete the application form and return it to the church office (all details in the form) at http://www.hopechurchfamily.org/holidayclub/
