11 January 2019 Newsletter 16
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to everyone and we hope you enjoyed the Christmas holidays.
Class 1 News
Homework: We have been learning about symbols this week and looking at symbols of Christianity. Your homework this week is to design your own symbols to represent important things in your lives including people, pets, hobbies or faith and bring them into school next Tuesday (15th) afternoon to share.
Story Sacks: Class 1 pupils are taking home sacks this week with a return date of Tuesday 22nd January.
A Request! Class 1 would like to borrow some artificial grass for the week for their role play area. If you have any please could you bring it into school on Monday? Thank you.
Class 2 News
Homework: What does an astronaut need in space? Be prepared to present your ideas to the rest of the class.
Year 6 Guided Reading: Complete the reading comprehension for Wednesday.
Year 5 & 6 Sports Hall Athletics Trip Tuesday 15th January: Next Tuesday all pupils in these years will travel by coach to Hanley Castle High School in the afternoon to take part in this event. Please sign and return the attached permission slip and note that pupils will need to be collected from HCHS at 4.00 pm. Pupils will need to make sure they have their PE kit in school for this.
After School Care Club: Booking forms for the first half of this term are attached. Please complete and return them on Monday. As is standard practice with childcare providers we ask that sessions are booked in advance and that payment is made at the time of booking. We do recognise that there will be ‘one off’ unforeseen circumstances and will always try to be flexible according to parents’ needs but please give us as much notice as you can if additional sessions are required. Statements / invoices for After School Care Club for Autumn term will be sent out next week.
Instrumental Tuition: Severn Arts tuition will start again next Monday for 12 weeks. Invoices for this term are attached.
After School Activity Clubs and Swimming: Sign up sheets are attached for these; they will commence from Monday 21st January and run for 10 weeks. Voluntary contributions for swimming transport should be included with the same form. Swimming will start again next Thursday so please make sure your child has their swimming kit in school.
Contacting School Regarding Illness, Collection etc: While we appreciate that email seems a convenient way of telling us your child is ill first thing in the morning, or will be collected by someone else, please bear in mind that we suffer from frequent internet outages in Pendock and there is no guarantee that urgent messages will be received this way. Leaving a message on the office answering machine is preferable. Furthermore, Worcestershire County Council advise that individual pupils should not be identified in emails for security reasons.
Friends’ News: Please find the attached newsletter giving information about upcoming events. Breaking news that did not make it into the letter: during February Waitrose in Great Malvern are including FOPS in their ‘green token’ scheme. If you buy something in the store you will be given a token to vote for one of three local groups to receive a share of £1000. So please encourage all your friends and family to shop there and vote for us as well!
