23 November 2018                                                                                                                                          Newsletter 11

Dear Parents and Carers

Menus:  These are enclosed for the final three weeks of term.  Please look over them with your child and return them with payment, if appropriate, on Monday.  Please note that, as in previous years, FOPS are kindly funding our Christmas meal.  There are a small number of people who booked and paid for a school lunch today for Year 5 or 6 pupils who were doing Cross Country.  If this is the case you will have a credit slip attached.

Class 1 News

Homework:  We have been learning about instructional writing this week.  See if you can find any instructions at home.  Bring them in ready to share on Monday.

 Class 2 News

Year 6 Guided Reading:  Please complete the ‘Tudor Wedding’ reading comprehension for next Wednesday.

Homework:  Write a letter to your class teacher about something that interests you.

School Photographs:  Please return these for first thing next Thursday as they will be sent off promptly to Tempest in order to fulfil their Christmas deadlines.  You can also order directly online if this is more convenient.

After School Care Club:  If anyone is available to be the parent volunteer helper on 5th, 12th or 19th of December, please let Ms Curnow know.

School Closure in the Event of Adverse Weather:  We had a very small foretaste of winter weather this week so this is an opportune time to remind you of our procedures.  If we have to close the school due to excessive snowfall etc, announcements will be made on:

Our own website https://pendockprimary.co.uk

WCC website http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/info/20062/schools/874/school_closures

BBC Radio Hereford and Worcestershire

In addition, we will alert you using the Teachers 2 Parents text messaging service so please ensure we always have a current mobile number for you.

We would like to assure you that closure of the school due to bad weather is a very rare event and that we will make every effort to keep the school open while being mindful of everyone’s safety.

FOPS Christmas Fayre:  Flyers are enclosed this week.  Also, remember that next Friday we have a non uniform day in return for good quality bottles for the bottle stall.  Donations of cakes would also be very welcome on Friday 7th December.
