Dear Parents and Carers

Class 1 News

Homework:  We are having a focus on reading at home this week.  Please try to read for at least 10 minutes every evening and, on Friday, come to school prepared to share what you have read.

Story Sacks: These are due in this coming TUESDAY 20th NOVEMBER. Please return them promptly to the area behind the door in the library.

Class 2 News

Year 6 Guided Reading:  We will be reading a diary entry from Tudor times so you need to research some background knowledge.  Who was Catherine of Aragon and where was she from? Who did she marry?  What is a lady-in-waiting?  What does an interpreter do?  This is due for Wednesday.

Homework:  Choose and practise a times table ready to present this to the class on Wednesday 21st November.

Year 5 & 6 Cross Country Event:  This event that was postponed from 12th October due to bad weather is now going to take place on Friday 23rd November.  All details remain the same: we will be taking the children to and from Peachfield Common by coach, they will need a packed lunch, snacks and drinks and suitable warm / waterproof clothing for between races.  A bin bag would also be useful to put these in and to sit on.  If you had already booked and paid for a school lunch on this date, a credit will be carried forward to the next period.  Please sign and return the attached slip.

Oral History Project:  We would like to express our thanks to all the members of the local community who gave up their time to come in the school for the Memory Collecting Morning on Wednesday.  This is an ongoing project so watch this space for any further events!  Next Wednesday afternoon we are very much looking forward to playwrite John Townsend joining us to begin working on a play with the whole school, based on the memories collected this week.  This play will be performed later this academic year.

School Photographs:  A reminder that Tempest Photography will be visiting us next Thursday morning. If you would like any family group photographs with pre school children, you can bring them along to the staff room from 8.30 am.

Overdue Library Books:  Reminder slips are attached to this newsletter if you have an overdue book.  Please have a look at home.

Outdoor Clothing and Footwear:  Please make sure all children have a waterproof coat in school and a change of footwear for outdoor play.

Messy Church Saturday 1st December 4.00 – 5.00 pm Eldersfield C.E. Primary School:  Join us for family fun, games, songs, activities, crafts and food all celebrating Christmas!  There is no charge but parents need to stay with their children.

PE and Sport Premium for Primary Schools:  Last year the school received £16,440 to spend on making additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education, physical activity and sport offered in school.  The grant is used to support the UK Chief Medical Officer’s recommendation that all children should engage in moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity each day for at least 60 minutes, of which 30 minutes should be in school.  Please look at our recently published report on our website for further details.

Email Newsletter Distribution:  If anyone is not already receiving a copy of this newsletter by email, and would like to go on the distribution list, please confirm that you would like to by emailing office@pendockpri.worcs.sch.uk
