21 September 2018 Newsletter 3
Dear Parents and Carers
Menus: These are enclosed for the next period up to half term. Please look over these with your child and return them with payment on Monday. We would ask that all forms and payment are returned promptly as chasing these up takes up extra administrative time to the detriment of other tasks important to the smooth running of the school. Please note when booking meals that Years 5 and 6 will need their own packed lunch on Friday 12th October for the Cross Country event.
Class 1 News
Homework: We have been starting to think about maps and bird’s eye views this week. Have a go at drawing a plan of your house, thinking about the shapes of the rooms. This is to be completed for next Wednesday.
Class 2 News
Homework: You have a choice of 2 tasks this week:
- Draw, paint or create a collage of your visit to Crooked Lane. Which part will you illustrate – climbing over the wall or climbing the tree?
- Create a cartoon strip picture of your visit to Crooked Lane.
Ms White’s Year 6 Guided Reading Group: Find out what you can about the story of Beowulf and present your findings in your own way; this is due back for Wednesday 26th September.
FAME Music Project: We had our first FAME session today. Pupils will be allowed to take home their instruments and practise with them, once a form has been signed taking responsibility for them. These letters will go home with pupils on Monday.
Data Collection Sheets: If you have not yet returned these, we need them back urgently. Please amend where necessary and return them on Monday.
Whole School Trip to Hardwick Meadows on Monday 24th September: A reminder that this will be happening on Monday during school time. Please return your slip first thing on Monday if you have not done so already. Pupils will need sensible own clothes and footwear, a small rucksack, drinks, snacks and a packed lunch if a school one has not already been ordered.
After School Clubs: Activity Clubs will begin again on Monday 24th September for 10 weeks. Thanks to Steph Grainger and Ros Cale we are also offering a Film Club from 3.15 – 4.15 pm on Thursdays. Please see the attached form if your child is interested. There will be a £10 cost per child for the 10 weeks in line with other after school clubs. If paying via P4S please include this under After School Care Club Autumn 2018.
Bridge Closure Meeting: The Parish Council are hosting a public meeting from 6pm on Wednesday 26th September in the School Hall. This is to discuss the upcoming M50 bridge closures which are proposed to commence from 1st October for 10 weeks. Those affected are the School Lane bridge (partial closure with traffic lights), B4208 bridge (total closure) and Bury Court bridge (total closure). This will be an important issue for the local community so please attend if you possibly can.
Swimming Lessons: These begin again next Thursday for all year groups. Please make sure your child has their kit in school.
Flu Immunisations: If your child is in Year 1 – 5 a letter is enclosed regarding the Flu immunisation offer. Our appointment date for this is Monday 15th October.
Year 5 & 6 Bikeability Survey: Please see the attached letter regarding this survey. We hope you and your child will chose to take part.
Junk Modelling Materials: Class 1 would really like some more junk modelling boxes etc. Please bring these down to Class 1 by next Friday.
Emailed copy of this newsletter: If anyone else would like to be added to the email distribution of this newsletter, which includes fundraising information, please send a request to email@example.com’sch.uk. Due to GDPR we have to have to have your express consent for this.
Lost Items: A towel with various swimming award badges and a child’s watch were left at the Christmas’ house at the end of last term. If these are yours please claim them from the school office.
