Dear Parents and Carers

Menus:  These are attached for the final fortnight of this term.  Please complete them together with your child and return with payment, if appropriate, on Monday.

Class 1 Homework:  We have been learning to classify animals by what they eat, using carnivore, herbivore and omnivore.  Explain to your family what these terms mean and classify some animals, recording this in whatever way you choose.

Class 2 Homework:  Class 2 enjoyed a fantastic day at Hanley Castle studying a variety of modern languages.  For homework, share what you have learned with a family member and be prepared to tell the class about your experience next week – magnifique!

Stay and Play ‘Summer Sizzler’ Friendly Family Event Wednesday 4th July:  As the heatwave looks set to continue, FOPS are putting on this FREE event next Wednesday from 3.15 – 4.15 pm. There will be ice creams, cool drinks and some fun water activities!  Do get involved and join in the fun when you come to collect your child at 3.15 pm.  Please send a towel and swimwear for your child if you are intending them to stay as they will be getting wet! Do bring along your own swimwear at the end of the day if you wish.  There will be no Games Club that afternoon.

Dyslexia and Literacy Support Meeting Friday 6th July:  Parents are very welcome to come along to this information session which will be at 9.00 am.  We are fortunate to have both Ruth Wilson and Mary Jenkins from our Learning Support Team in attendance.  Please let Mrs Evans know by Wednesday if you are planning to come.

Midsummer Concert Wednesday 11th July

Concert Lyrics The concert is fast approaching! Song practice next week will be without words so all members of Class 1 and Class 2 need to make time to practice their songs using the lyric sheets attached to this newsletter.

Instrumentalist Rehearsal Those who have put their names forward to play an instrumental solo at the Summer Musical Performance on July 11th are asked to attend a rehearsal after school on THURSDAY 5TH JULY 3.15-4.25pm. The rehearsal is important for planning the instrumental section of the concert so if your child wishes to play in the concert it is essential they attend. They will need to ensure they have their sheet music (and instrument if necessary) in school that day.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the concert, as well as parents.  Please sign up either in the office or on the sheet by the back door so that we know how many people we are expecting.  It will be ‘pay on the door’.

After School Clubs:  Next week will be the final week of 3.15 – 4.15 pm activity clubs.  After School Care will continue until 19th July; however, on 19th July itself, After School Care Club will finish at 5.00 pm promptly to allow us time to set up for the Leavers’ Presentation Evening.

Leavers’ Events:  On Thursday 19th July we will have our church service at 9.30 am at Pendock Cross Church and our Presentation Evening in school from 6.00 pm.  These are special occasions where everyone has the opportunity to say goodbye to the Year 6 students so we would like as many people as possible from as many years as possible to attend.
