Dear Parents and Carers


Class 1:  Mrs Evans’ phonics group will have a spelling test on Tuesday next week.

Story Sacks:  Reception will be taking home story sacks today with a return date of Tuesday 1st May.

International Dance Afternoon Wednesday 25th April: Class 1 will all be going to Countryside Day Nursery by minibus during school time for this exciting afternoon of dance.  Please return the slip attached and make sure your child has their PE kit in school ready for this.  We are also taking three Class 2 children to help lead the activities; separate consent forms are attached for them.

Whole School Homework:  Next week is sustainability week in school.  For homework please do some research into recycling, reusing and reducing waste and be ready to bring your new knowledge to our work next Monday afternoon.  This can take any form you choose.

Year 6 Pupils’ Transition:  If pupils are likely to need transport to their new secondary school you will need to apply via www.worcestershire.gov.uk/Under16Application by 31st July.

Mr Cook and Mrs Dunn from Hanley Castle High School will be coming to chat to our Year 6 pupils on Wednesday 9th May.

Parents’ Evening:  Please sign up for a time slot on Tuesday 24th April if you have not already done so.

Swimming:  Lessons will start again next Thursday; please make sure your child has their kit in school.  We are asking for a voluntary contribution of £20 towards transport costs.

Cross Country Event at Hanley Castle High School:  On Friday 4th May Hanley Castle are hosting their annual Cross Country Event for all primary year groups on The Glebe.  It will take place from 4.00 – 6.00 pm so parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from the venue and are more than welcome to spectate.  Please arrive after 3.40 pm to avoid congestion and note that there is no parking on The Glebe itself.  The distances will be: R-Y1 400m; Y2-3 600m; Y4 800m; y5 1200m; y6 1500m.  They would like to know numbers attending, so please indicate on the attached slip if you are definitely intending to participate.


After School Activity Clubs:  These will begin again the week commencing 30th April.  Sign up sheets will go out next week.

After School Care Club:  Invoices are attached for the second half of Spring Term.  This may also include an amount brought forward from the first half of the term if you had not already paid this.

Invoices for Music Tuition:  These are attached for Summer Term.

Playtime Reminder:  All children need a change of shoes in school for going outside and also a sun hat.

May Bank Holiday:  A reminder that the bank holiday will fall on 7th May this year; this might not have been on the calendar that was previously distributed.

FOPS News:  Just to remind you there will be another Bags2School collection on 27th April.  Filled bags can be dropped either after school on Thursday 26th April or before 9.00 am on the Friday.  There will be a FOPS meeting at 3.30 pm on Thursday 26th April in school; all are welcome.
