Dear Parents and Carers

Menus:  These are enclosed for the 4 weeks ending 1st December.  Please look over them with your child and return them with payment, if appropriate, on Monday straight after half term.  Late return of menus and alterations creates more work for school staff so we would appreciate it if they are returned promptly on the Monday.

Breakfast Club and After School Care:  Invoices for both of these are attached for the first half of Autumn term.  Please make payment via the Payment4Schools website or the green post box after half term.  If a child attended only one session of Breakfast Club we have not raised an invoice but will carry it forward to the second half of term.  We would like to remind parents that both Breakfast Club and After School Care count as ‘qualifying childcare costs’ if you are claiming Working Tax Credit and you need to quote our Ofsted number which is 116838 as the provider number.

Class 1 News

Reception Phonics (Mrs Bates’ Group):  We will be repeating Phase 2 again this half term focussing on the letter formation.  The children will be working in their sound book each day and will then bring it home with a little activity for them to continue at home each day.  Please bring in back the next day ready to work on in school.

Whole School Homework:  Designing a Christmas card.  Please see the letters handed out in class from FOPS: each child should have their own design sheet.  The whole school should also keep practising their spellings, reading and big maths.

Harvest Festival:  Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the special assembly in school this morning and also for your donations to the Food Bank.  We hope you enjoyed seeing and hearing the results of the pupils’ hard work.

Open Day Events:  We will be holding these from 9.00 – 10.00 am and 6.00 – 7.00 pm on Thursday 2nd November.  If you know any families whose children will be starting school in the next couple of years or who might otherwise have an interest in our school please extend a warm welcome to them.  All parents of current and prospective pupils are invited to the morning slot.  The evening presentation is for parents of prospective pupils.

Cash Payments to School:  Other than the payment for Baking Club, please do not hand cash payments to classroom staff.  These should always go via the green box at the Parent Information Point or be handed directly to Ms Curnow in the office.

Bridge Closure:  As regards the forthcoming closure of the M50 bridge on the B4208, there will be a public meeting convened by local councillor Tom Wells at school on Tuesday 7th November at 7.00 pm.  Representatives from Highways England, Council Highways Departments and the construction company Kier will be in attendance to answer questions and respond to residents’ concerns.

Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox Appeal:  We will be starting to collect these again after half term and ‘ready made’ shoeboxes will be available for you to fill.  Our thanks go to Sarah Rowe for once again organising this and co-ordinating collection.

Bromsgrove Young Musicians’ Platform:  Please see the poster at the Parent Information Point or if your child is a keen instrumentalist and might be interested in auditioning for this competition.

FOPS News:  The next meeting will be at 3.30 pm on Tuesday 31st October to continue planning the Christmas Fayre.  All parents / carers are welcome.  There will be another Bags2School collection on 20th November .  Bags will be distributed after half term.
