Whilst Years 3 and 4 enjoyed a Dance Festival at Hanley Castle High School, Years 5 and 6 enjoyed the opportunity to take part in a morning’s Dance Workshop led by Mrs Lyndon-Chance. The main focus was on learning how to choreograph a dance to fit with the music.
The children listened to the music. They then listened to and began counting the beats. Then it was time to work out how many bars were in each phrase and to start putting moves together in groups of two or four to fit to the style and tempo of the music.
This was a wonderfully energetic and successful morning where each person’s contribution was valued and everyone in the workshop made progress towards completing a whole group dance.
We look forward to the next stage!
