Over the past 2 weeks, Year 5 and 6 have been reading Hansel and Gretel and rewriting it with their own unique endings!

First, they read the story so they could engage with the writing style and the plot. Then, they were visited by Hansel and had the opportunity to interview him, asking him all manner of questions about what really went on in the gingerbread house.

They then used everything they’d heard to begin thinking about what could’ve happened had they not known the ending of the tale. They were given the task of creating a unique ending that fit with the writing style of the original book, and even had the opportunity to read them to an audience!

Once they were all finished, Year 5 and 6 read the story with their new endings to the children in Class 1 to get their opinions on them.
