Where we learn
Lots of exciting things happen in Class 1. Why don’t you pop in to take a look at our displays and role play area.
Our vibrant, attractive classroom is set up with different learning areas, including a role-play area, book corner, construction area and writing area. We have many exciting resources to help us with our learning.
Our Outdoor Area
We have access to this area throughout the day. There is always something interesting happening. Our water tray, sand tray, play house and home corner are here.
Role play is a vitally important part of educational development and social skills. We have a role play area in both our classroom and outdoor area. Our classroom role play area will always be linked to the current topic being studied and helps hugely with the progression of speaking and listening. It also supports the development of imagination and gives the children knowledge and understanding of real life concepts/experiences.
Meet the people who work in Class One
Hello, my name is Mrs Evans and I teach Class 1. I love my job and look forward to all of the exciting things we learn about in Class 1. One of my great passions in life is Running so having the Pendock Spring Chicken Run to help organise each year is one of my highlights. I also love organising Running Club in the lead up to it. I am Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and have just started back at University studying for the National SENDCO Award to give me a new challenge to work towards. I am Pendock’s Staff Governor.
I am a teaching assistant working in Class 1 supporting the children throughout the school day. My role includes working with children doing interventions including Dancing Bears which helps their reading skills and Language for Thinking which helps with verbal reasoning and reading comprehension. I work with children who need support with their speech and language development. I teach music where the children are able to experience playing a variety of instruments and learn some traditional songs and dances. I am also a lunch time supervisor.
I have been at Pendock Primary School for 3 years working in Class 1. I work with children who need support with their mathematics skills using Numicon and with their handwriting skills using the Jimbo Fun programme. I always aim to work hard but have fun, too. My other role is that of lunch time supervisor and we never let a bit of rain get us down! I have a passion for all things cake! Any opportunity given you will find me in the kitchen whipping up a delicious and colourful batch of cupcakes or cake. I bring this love into the class and thoroughly enjoy cooking with the children; getting a little messy is always enjoyable. I have also supported an after school baking club making a variety of delightful treats!
