Languages Morning

There was a buzz of different languages in school this morning as we celebrated our second Languages Morning. The children were invited to dress in either the national costume of their chosen country or to wear the colours of that country's flag. After a general introduction to the morning it was straight into the first session. The children worked in groups, travelling to each of the four language work shops on offer: French, Spanish, Dutch and Swahili.

For each language there was a different theme. In Spanish we learnt songs with actions. In Dutch we learnt our colours and numbers by playing lotto and meeting the challenge of building a tower with the correct number of bricks in the correct colours. In French we learned to ask and tell the time, which helped us to avoid being eaten by Monsieur le Loup and in Swahili we went to the fruit and vegetable market-this was handy practise for Mrs Evans and Mz White who visit Tanzania in a few weeks time.

Half way through the morning we enjoyed a variety of snacks from different countries.
