  Class 2 News

Homework:  All Class 2 should be collecting items with which to furnish their shrines.  They should also be learning the definitions of their spellings and Year 5 and 6 should have a written definition list.

Ms White’s Guided Reading Homework:   Write a review of a book you have read.  You must use PEE (Point, Evidence, Explain) This means you must explain your ideas using quotes from the text.  If anyone needs any help please see Ms White on Monday.

West Worcestershire Cross Country Championships:  We will be taking all Year 5 and 6 pupils to this event at Malvern College on Friday 13th October and will travel there and back by coach in school time.  Please make sure your child arrives in their PE kit on that day and has a packed lunch, plenty of suitable drinks and snacks and some appropriate clothing (waterproofs if necessary).  We are not requesting a voluntary contribution for this trip but please sign the attached slip.  Some pupils had already booked a school lunch for this day and a credit will be carried forward if you had already paid.

Football Tournament at Hanley Castle High School:  Next Friday, 6th October we will be entering a team in this tournament.  If your child has been chosen to participate, a slip is attached; for some extra training it would be really useful if they could come to after school football club on Wednesday 4th October if they do not do so already.  Please arrange for them to be transported to The Glebe, Hanley Castle for a 4.00 pm start on Friday 6th and to be collected again at 6.00 pm.

After School Clubs:  Baking Club on Thursdays will finish at 4.30 rather than 4.15 to give ourselves enough time to create something truly delicious after arriving back from swimming at 3.30 pm so please collect any junior bakers later on that day.  A reminder that there is a charge of £1 per week to cover ingredients.  If you prefer to pay this in one lump sum please let us know.

Unfortunately, Singing Club on a Friday afternoon will not be offered this term as there was not sufficient take-up.

Thursday Pick Up:  While the bridge on School Lane is still closed we are not getting back from swimming until 3.30 pm so please do not arrive any earlier to collect children on that day.

Text Messaging Service:  This is a popular method of communicating with parents and many schools are using it now.  We are trialling it for a month and would appreciate your feedback.  An initial message was sent out this morning so if you did not receive this please let us know as either we have an old number on file for you or some settings need to be adjusted in our records.

FOPS News:  We look forward to seeing you at the Welcome Back Disco tomorrow night at Bromsberrow.  For more details of what FOPS have done in the past and are planning soon, please see the attached FOPS newsletter.  The AGM will be on Tuesday 3rd October at 6.00 pm in the school hall. It would be lovely to see as many new and old faces as possible and it is open to everyone.  If you want to get involved in fundraising for the benefit of all the pupils in school please come along with ideas or enthusiasm!
